Upgrade Z-Wave.Me Z-Way to Trident IoT Z-Way
Eligibility
End customer using Z-Way in their private homes are eligible to upgrade to Trident IoT Z-Way for free. Commercial customers are subject to additional licensing fee. Please check the Trident IoT License for more info.
1. Get features for your Z-Station, RaZberry 7 or Wiren Board Z-Wave shield
Trident IoT Z-Way can not manage additional capabilities of Z-Station, RaZberry 7 or Wiren Board Z-Wave shield. Thus, you have to get them before upgrading (you will be able to downgrade Z-Way and get them at any time later). For this go to Z-Way Controller Info page and click on Get more features. Once features are approved, press the Apply button on the same page Controller Info page.
2. Add Trident IoT APT source and install Z-Way
(For Wiren Board users) Remove the priority of the Z-Wave.Me repository:
rm -f /etc/apt/preferences.d/z-wave-me-repo-priority
Copy the script on the Trident IoT APT page and paste it in your terminal. It will add Trident IoT APT repository to the list of trusted sources, and install the latest Z-Way release and all the dependencies.
You might also want to install the latest nightly build. For this, execute the following script (it is one single line):
pkg=$(case "$(uname -m)" in x86_64|amd64) a=amd64;; aarch64|arm64|armv8l|armv7l) a=armhf;; *) a=unknown;; esac; curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/tridentiot/z-way-builds/releases/tags/nightly | jq -r '.assets[] | "\(.name)"' | grep z-way-${distro_id}-${distro}-${a}-); wget https://github.com/tridentiot/z-way-builds/releases/download/nightly/$pkg -O $pkg; dpkg -i $pkg
3. Change the protocol for your Zigbee RF module
If you have Zigbee module installed, go to Apps→Active→Zigbee Network Access and change the Select the Serial Protocol, used for communications with the Zigbee Serial Adapter parameter to Silicon Labs EZSP.
4. Update your Z-Station, RaZberry 7 or Wiren Board Z-Wave shield
Make sure to install the latest firmware in your Z-Wave radio module. For this, navigate to Firmware Upgrade page and upgrade to 7.42, then upgrade the bootloader to 02.04.0005, then upgrade to 7.46, and finally to 7.47.
Enable Long Range by changing the frequency in the Operating frequency section on the Network → Control page
